[VIDEO] Learn More About the Amazon Rainforest's Native Bird Species
Dr. Mario Cohn-Haft is one of our Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project (BDFFP) alumni, a renowned ornithologist, and a researcher at the National Institute of Amazonian Research (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia; or INPA). To bring his research to a broader audience, Mario has created a YouTube channel, “Cantos da Amazônia.”

Each new video dives into a different native Amazon rainforest bird species, discussing the interesting interactions with their ecosystem. The videos are in Portuguese with English subtitles.
The most recent video, “Whither the Tody-Tyrant?" ("Por onde andava Maria?") talks about a species of bird, Pelzen’s Tody-Tyrant, that has been missing for more than a century, but was mysteriously found on the outskirts of Manaus, where our BDFFP is headquartered.
